dif will produce a printed literary-arts zine for release upon an unsuspecting public during june 2025

we're open for submissions and offerings - dominations and entries until midday 27.04.2025

issue 1 - wtf is dif?

in our first issue we want to explore that question

for us dif = difference - especially around lgbtq+ queerness - misfit - beyond the mainstream - alternative.

we want to explore how dif is expressed through words - writing and artwork

if you think you have stuff that really expresses this then we want to hear from you

have a read of our website - browse our pinterest - instagram and bookshop to get a sense of our vibe.

what we want
we're open minded

the unexpected the surprising the exciting
any writing - any language - any format - no word limit - any font
fiction - non-fiction - lonely hearts - announcements - poetry - short story - chapter - lyrics - raps - letters - experiments - readings list - music lists - sticker designs - reviews - interviews - art work - photography - collages - sticker designs - street art

we value the right to freedom of self expression
we take a no censorship approach

how to send us stuff

send by email to difwriters@gmail.com

with subject heading dif011- your name - title of work

attach your work in common formats .docx pdf jpeg etc

send a new email for each piece you want to offer

the body of the email should state that what you are offering is your own work

please let us know if the work has been published- shown elsewhere before
we might ask for a hard copy of selected writing or art work at zine design stage

how we will select

our zine team here in bristol uk will curate and produce and distribute the zine

this is not a competition - it is about bringing together interesting and exciting responses to the brief and what works well together

ultimately we want to publish everything in some form at some point

we might produce more than one edition depending on what we receive

editing

if selected we will be clear about what work or part of work we want to use

you will be offered editorial support or for it to be used unedited

recognition - copyright - payment

this first edition of the zine is an unfunded grass roots diy project with no payments involved - including for the project team.

however...

all selected writers-artists will be acknowledged in the zine and on our website

all selected contributors will retain copyright

all selected contributors will receive a complimentary copy of the zine

all contributors will be invited to any in-person or online launch events

- we hope to introduce contributor payments for any future editions

producing the zine

this will be a printed zine

it will be sold to cover costs of printing, materials, launch and distribution

digital versions will be available on request - mainly for purposes of accessibility

we will set up distribution across bristol uk and the right type of bookshop-store in the UK and beyond.

it will be available for direct purchase via our website
